Project Week and RPO Struggles

I spent the whole of week 8 writing my RPO. I don’t think it’s commendable since it could be something that could be done much faster, but I believe I would much rather sit on it and go through all the struggles and write whatever I needed to, to my best ability.

In hindsight, it was a tough process that I had to go through – reading and understanding big topics like the internet and interactions. Drawing mind maps is not enough, and it is not a good indicator of whether you truly understand things. The actual struggle happens when I start to write things down into sentences.

One of the main problems I had was narrowing down the main problem of the internet. There were many huge problems that could be tackled, I should narrow down exactly what it is. There were 3 different drafts and pillars that were constantly reshuffled:

I ended up settling with talking about (1) the commercialisation of the web, which leads to a space prioritising effeciency over creativity, (2) how can we use technoromanticism to influence human creativity and emotions critcally, and (3) using speculative and critical design to approach my research.
